Assistant Head Baker

We are searching for YOU to play a key role in leading our team and developing our products and processes. 

We are a growing awards winning artisan bakery with passion for traditional baking and specialising in real sourdough! 

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for "real bread" and doing things properly to maintain our high standards  and hard work with our Head Baker and his team to push us forward for the future as we continue to grow and expand. 

 

This is a Full-Time, shift based role at our NEW bakery in Leigh on Sea.

You will get Christmas & New Year Off, 50% staff discount within company outlets. 

Salary: £22,500 - £27,000

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • - You will mix, prepare and bake our full range of breads which are slow fermented and enriched

  • - You'll produce our signature breads, cakes and bakes for all our outlets, markets and events - where you will also be expected to serve customers occasionally.

  • - You will open and close the bakery at the start and end of your shift.

  • - You will manage ordering, stock control and wastage.

  • - You will adhere to health and safety and food safety regulations.

  • - You will ensure all baked goods are completed to strict timelines and to an excellent standard.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • - You will be passionate about bread, viennoiserie, cakes and desserts and producing them to the highest standard.

  • - You will be brimming with ideas for new products and how we can improve what we do.

  • - You’ll be a strong team leader with excellent organisational skills.

  • - You will be knowledgeable in traditional and slow fermentation bread-making techniques and have strong pastry skills.

  • - You will have at least two years’ experience of working in a bakery/kitchen environment, which includes mixing and shaping a range of breads.

  • - You will have at least one year experience of leading a bakery/kitchen team.

  • - You must be willing to learn and be able to work on your own.

  • - You will have excellent customer service skills.

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene is preferable, however training will be provided.

  • Due to expansion we are looking to recruit another experienced baker to join our existing teams.

  • Experience of baking is essential as you will be required to make bread, cakes from scratch and develop our range of exciting products.

  • Applicants must also have an awareness of health and safety procedures and possess the ability to work under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines. Reliability is a key attribute for this role, as is consistency under pressure and the ability to multitask.
